Keystone <> Safe(Gnosis Safe) — Eliminate Multi-Signature Blind Signing once and for all

Keystone Wallet

In the world of Web3, approving a signature simply takes the click of a few buttons. Unfortunately, not everyone pays close attention to the details of each signature, even if they use a hardware wallet. This is because most hardware wallets currently do not display the transaction details in entirety for users to verify before signing off on it.

Hardware Wallets are not entirely foolproof

It’s true that using a hardware wallet can help you avoid many security issues, such as the compromisation of your private key. However, hardware wallets do not solve other major issues such as having your Mnemonic Phrase leaked.

Back in December 2020, a targeted remote attack was performed on Nexus Mutual’s founder Hugh Karp. Hugh was using a hardware wallet but did not pay much attention to the transaction details prior to approving it.

This is where Keystone comes in. In a separate blog post, we explained what a blind signature is and what kind of consequences a user will face when signing one. We also demonstrated Keystone’s solution for it.

Transaction details in human-readable format

As you can see from the example above, we turn complicated crypto transaction details into a human-readable format so users understand and have full transparency on the transactions they are approving.

The team also constantly maintains an open-sourced smart contract metadata registry and we welcome all developers to leverage it and improve their product’s security level via our ABIs.

Keystone is currently fully integrated with the Safe Extension app. Integration with the Safe Mobile app will be completed by the end of October. Below are some articles for reference:

Final Words

The Keystone team is a huge fan of multisig. We think this is a good way for users to avoid a single point of failure. We know that there are no limits to cyber security, and will continue to work with Safe and other partners to elevate security and user experience in Web3.

P.S. We also have one of the best Bitcoin multisig solutions and have proudly co-authored the BIP129 Bitcoin Secure Multisig Setup (BSMS). Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions.

Finally, to celebrate the firmware upgrade, Keystone is offering everyone a 20% discount on all Keystone products until the 31st of October 2022.
